More Information!

Camp Invention, a program of The National Inventors Hall of Fame® Foundation, is a weeklong Summer Enrichment Day experience for children entering grades 1-6 next fall. For 2013, Camp Invention in the High Country will meet June 24-June 28, from 9:00am-3:30pm, on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.

The National Inventors Hall of Fame® Foundation is the premier not-for-profit organization in America dedicated to recognizing, honoring and encouraging invention and creativity. The Camp Invention program instills creative problem-solving and critical-thinking skills that will encourage children's future success. Nothing could be more important than investing in your children today for the betterment of their tomorrow!

What will we do at Camp Invention?

There are four different programs offered by Camp Invention, and to keep the activities fresh each year, each site operates on a rotating schedule. This ensures that children can return to the program at the same site, year after year, and never have the same experience twice. For 2013, Appalachian State University will host the Camp Invention program, GEO-QUEST. If you think your child might enjoy the totally hands-on GEO-QUEST program, share the videos with them that are posted at The National Inventors Hall of Fame site!

WHO WILL PROVIDE THE LEADERSHIP FOR CAMP INVENTION?

Camp Invention is sponsored at Appalachian State University by the Office of Conference and Camp Services. The Director of Camp Invention is Paula Domermuth, who many of you will know as she has taught with us the past two years. Paula works as a tutor for many students in Watauga County, and also teaches classes for Grace Academy. Paula has extensive science and math background (including a degree in Chemical Engineering from VA Tech). Paula says she is looking forward to this year's camp because "kids have such great imaginations and it's so fun and interesting to see their inventions and ask them to explain how they work! "
We are definitely excited to have Paula serving as the Camp Director for 2013.

Camp Invention instructors are certified teachers in our local area who are selected for their abilities to excite and motivate children and their enthusiasm for creative learning. We are very pleased to have some of our teachers returning in 2013. Our counselors are local college and high school students that love being with children and are enthusiastic about science.

WHERE WILL CAMP INVENTION BE HELD?

The Edwin Duncan Building on the campus of Appalachian State University is the site for this program. Campers will also be outside part of every day, weather permitting. Additional information will be emailed upon receipt of your completed registration.
