REGISTER NOW!!

Camp Invention, a program of The National Inventors Hall of FameĀ® Foundation, is a weeklong Summer Enrichment Day experience for children entering grades 1-6 next fall. For 2012, Camp Invention in the High Country will meet June 25-June 29, from 8:45am-3:30pm, on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.

The National Inventors Hall of FameĀ® Foundation is the premier not-for-profit organization in America dedicated to recognizing, honoring and encouraging invention and creativity. The Camp Invention program instills creative problem-solving and critical-thinking skills that will encourage children's future success. Nothing could be more important than investing in your children today for the betterment of their tomorrow!

What will we do at Camp Invention?

There are three different programs offered by Camp Invention, and to keep the activities fresh each year, each site operates on a rotating schedule. This ensures that children can return to the program at the same site, year after year, and never have the same experience twice. For 2012, Appalachian State University will host the Camp Invention program, ENVISION. If you think your child might enjoy the totally hands-on ENVISION program, share the videos with them that are posted at The National Inventors Hall of Fame site!

WHAT IS THE FEE FOR CAMP INVENTION?

The base fee is $235. There are discounts for "bring a friend" promotions, discounts for employees of the host county (Watauga) and discounts for employees of the hosting site (ASU). You may call the number below to see if other promotions apply. Campers can register with a $50 deposit, and pay the balance in monthly installments. Complete information is available from the registration site.

WHO WILL PROVIDE THE LEADERSHIP FOR CAMP INVENTION?

Camp Invention is sponsored at Appalachian State University by the Office of Conference and Camp Services. The Director of Camp Invention is Lara Gil, who was our enthusiatic and hard working camp parent last year. Lara works as a substitute teacher and tutor for Avery County, where she is also works as a contract translator and test administrator. Lara is a native of Avery County with two Camp Invention campers. She is so enthusiastic about Camp Invention that she is directing the first Camp Invention program in Newland this summer, July 16-20.

Camp Invention instructors are certified teachers in our local area who are selected for their abilities to excite and motivate children and their enthusiasm for creative learning. We are pleased to have several teachers returning in 2012. Our counselors are local college and high school students that love being with children and are enthusiastic about science.

WHERE WILL CAMP INVENTION BE HELD?

The Edwin Duncan Building on the campus of Appalachian State University is the site for this program. Campers will also be outside part of every day, weather permitting. Additional information will be emailed upon receipt of your completed registration.
